Dr. Barbara Nicolosi

On Friday, April 1st, students and community members gathered to watch the 2020 film, "Fatima" in preparation for Dr. Nicolosi's talk the following week. In a brief discussion after the movie, viewers agreed that it was well made, entertaining, and effectively portrayed the Marian apparitions that took place in Fatima, Portugal.

The following Wednesday, April 6th, Dr. Barbara Nicolosi, the screenwriter of "Fatima", joined us at the Newman Center to give her talk titled "Bringing the Fatima Story to the Big Screen: Reflections of a Hollywood Catholic". In her talk, she shared her faith and career journey, how the Fatima movie came to be, and the challenges that come with producing Catholic movies and being a Catholic in Hollywood.

"Being a disciple means making the connection between the faith that we learn and our lived experience: we must connect the head with the heart so that our faith becomes not simply something that we do but part of who we are."
